Laurianne Varoquier, Miss Franco-Mauritian: a crown to raise awareness, a voice for health

Born to a Mauritian mother in , Laurianne Fany Varoquier is the new Miss Franco-Mauritian. During her reigning year, she will devote herself to raising awareness of breast cancer screening.

For Laurianne Fany Varoquier, every little action counts for a better future. It is with this conviction that she fully commits herself as Miss Franco-Mauritian. “I am ready to transmit messages of hope and to work for a more united world that is aware of health issues,” explains the new 23-year-old Miss elected during the 8th edition of Miss Franco-Mauritian on December 21, 2024. This beauty contest is organized by Geetah Ajodah, from the Hibiscus Association in France.

Laurianne Fany Varoquier, whose mother is Mauritian, believes that a beauty contest is much more than a simple election. “Participating in this competition was not just a simple search for external recognition. It is a real platform for the union of strong, independent women ready to move the world forward. It is this collective energy and this ambition to contribute positively to society that pushed me to get involved,” says this native of the Île-de-France region.

The young woman adds that the rehearsals, discussions and moments spent alongside these inspiring women were incredible learning experiences. “I learned a lot and grew, not only on a personal level but also thanks to the spirit of sisterhood that reigned throughout the competition. I warmly thank all the other Misses, the coaches for their expertise and Madame Ajodah for organizing this wonderful event,” said our interlocutor.

During her year as Miss Franco-Mauritian, Laurianne Fany Varoquier wishes to support a cause that is particularly close to her heart: raising awareness of breast cancer screening. With the help of associations and health professionals, she encouraged me to organize workshops and conferences to inform and raise awareness among the Mauritian population of the importance of screening, both among women and men.

In addition to this local approach, she will also participate in the breast cancer support race in in October, all of the funds raised will be donated to research in the fight against breast cancer. “It will be an immense honor for me to wear the colors of Mauritius during this international event and to contribute to the research of this vital cause,” said this holder of a Master’s degree in transport, logistics and international trade.

She recognizes that health is essential as is the importance of awareness in order to detect illness as early as possible to have access to the necessary care.

Laurianne Fany Varoquier is often described as a jovial person who is always ready to help those who need it. “Family being an essential value for me, I would like to thank my loved ones for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout this adventure. Their presence and their love allowed me to follow my dream,” she concludes.

His last visit to Mauritius dates back to November 2024. It was to celebrate his mother’s 60th birthday. “What I like about Mauritius is the diversity and what we learn from all cultures. In France, when we say we are from Mauritius, they look at us with a big smile. I’m proud that people smile when I talk about my origins,” says the youngest of two siblings. She likes to spend her free time with her family. Laurianne Fany Varoquier also learned to cook Mauritian dishes with the help of her mother. She likes beef briani and “dholl puri”.

Passionate about retail

She is passionate about the retail sector. “This is an area in which I put all my know-how and determination. But beyond my professional career, it is my commitment to causes that are close to my heart that makes me the person I am today,” says the Miss Franco-Mauritian.
