Facing the fridge, only one observation for this Périgord pharmacist: “It’s completely empty!“Sylvie Deny and her team have even sold out all their flu vaccines over the past week, 850 doses which found buyers very recently:”Usually, we last the whole season with that.”
However, in Dordogne, only 43% of people at risk are vaccinated against the flu, or 7 points less than the average rate in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. But since the beginning of January, Sylvie Deny has, in fact, seen all the profiles coming, “not only people at risk, but also people who have seen the news and who are mobilizing to get vaccinated, albeit late.“
This is the case of Romain, who came to be vaccinated this morning, in another pharmacy in Périgueux, the only one which still has doses. He is only vaccinated for the second time against the flu: “I do a lot of traveling at the start of the year; I’m going to take public transport a lot so I wanted to protect myself.“
-Here, we vaccinate at least 3 to 4 times a day. “Everyone rushed after the holidays and pharmacies were caught off guardexplains the manager of the establishment. We receive calls from other pharmacies to find out if we have vaccines.“
A surge in requests, partly linked to the flu epidemic currently raging, more virulent than last year. Without being exceptional this year, “there was consideration of the risk due to media coverage“, according to Doctor Sylvie Quelet, medical advisor at ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
We all have someone who is sick around us. We bring the risk closer to people so people become aware of the importance of being vaccinated.

Each year, pharmacists order their doses in February for the coming year. At the start of 2025, emergency doses were released for professionals. They can now recommend it until the end of January, the end date of vaccination.
On January 15, Public Health France maintained the epidemic alert linked to influenza throughout the metropolis.
