Tanzania confirms the appearance of the Marburg virus – 01/20/2025

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Monday confirmed the outbreak of Marburg virus in the East African country, with one case confirmed to date.

“Laboratory tests carried out at the Kabaile mobile laboratory in Kagera, then confirmed in Dar es Salaam, identified a patient infected with the Marburg virus,” she told a press conference in which also included the Director General of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in Dodoma, a city located in the north of the country.
