A robbery took place in Senegal on the night of Sunday January 19, 2025 in the luxury Riu Baobab hotel complex.

In fact, a group of armed people attacked a hotel located around a hundred kilometers south of the capital Dakar.

The thieves took away loot of 12 million CFA francs according to the Senegalese Press Agency (APS).

The armed group made up of around twenty people with hunting rifles entered the Riu Baobab hotel complex at night.

The hotel is located in Pointe Séréne in the Mbour department. These individuals stole 18,300 euros, or more than 12 million CFA francs, reports RTS.

The police quickly arrived on the scene to control the situation after being notified.

Exchanges of fire took place between the police and the group of thugs. The latter took refuge in the hotel to avoid the police.

In short, the thieves escaped. Sources reported by RTS indicate that no injuries were reported.

The source states that: “There were no injuries or arrests”. This situation caused great fear for customers who came to enjoy their weekends.

However, an investigation is underway to identify the thugs who took a total of 12 million CFA francs.
