Last week, the number of infections observed in Luxembourg exploded. At the same time, Lorraine border hospitals went into “white plan” to cope with the influx of patients.
This is probably the time to stop kissing your colleagues, no longer shaking hands with your customers, distancing yourself from the other passengers on your train, washing your hands more frequently, or even postponing the mask… In short, the flu is here and even there! Of 746 cases recorded in the first week of January, the second saw the counters explode: 1,342 new patients diagnosed flu from January 6 to 12 in Luxembourg alone.
This week has therefore wreaked havoc on many businesses and families. To give an idea of the power of the epidemic over the 7 days mentioned: the number of people victims of the virus is 30% higher than that observed during last season’s peak…
And on the scientific side, we do not yet see any clearing in sight on the epidemic front. In fact, the flu virus remains detected as “high” in samples carried out in treated water from the country’s wastewater treatment plants. A concentration which suggests a circulation of the disease still alive for some time…
The flu situation seems even more worrying in Lorraine. It has been more than a week since the Grand Est Region triggered the White plane in several hospitals. The Metz-Thionville CHR is affected by this measure, like the Saint-Avold hospital and around fifteen other establishments.
-Faced with the influx of (numerous) patients affected by this pathology, the Plan provides for the reassignment of beds for their care in departments other than rooms linked to the respiratory infections department, the possibility of recall medical and nursing staff at rest, or even the deprogramming of non-urgent interventions.
In Meurthe-et-Moselle currently, 840 people out of 10,000 who arrive at the emergency room are seriously suffering from the flu. A slightly lower rate in Moselle: 660/10,000 passages.
