Nantes and Loire-Atlantique are not spared from the particularly virulent flu epidemic this year. “ While the department’s emergency services, as elsewhere in France, are under pressure due to an increase in the number of visits, the situation has further deteriorated at the start of 2025 (…) leading to the triggering of the white plan », alerts the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Nantes in a press release.
The launch of the white plan on January 6 allowed the University Hospital to reorganize its activities by canceling operations and increasing its hospitalization capacities. A new measure comes into force this Monday, January 13. Concretely, between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., excluding vital emergencies, “ any patient who has not been referred by a healthcare professional must first call 15 before going to the emergency room “. It will be effective until February 24, 2025 to cover the epidemic period and the winter school holidays.
This decision is the result of consultation between the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Pays de la Loire, public and private health establishments which receive emergencies in Loire-Atlantique, private medicine and ADOPS44 (Departmental Association for the organization of ongoing care). It applies to all emergency services in Loire-Atlantique at night.
What should you do in the event of a health problem?
If symptoms appear, you should consult your doctor as a priority.
If the attending physician is absent or unavailable, you can consult your pharmacist, who will give you advice, or contact a health center or health center near you to obtain an appointment.
If this is not enough, you can contact center 15 to:
- receive medical advice by telephone,
- be informed of the place to consult the nearest doctor on call,
- receive a visit from an on-call doctor or SOS Médecins,
- be referred for hospital treatment.
