In March 2008, when she was only 24 ansKatie Piper gets spraying the face with sulfuric acid by an accomplice sent by his ex-companion. The two men were quickly arrested. Katie is taken to the emergency room and placed in an induced coma for 12 days. The acid, some of which Piper had swallowed, blinded in left eye and caused severe burns. Surgeons had to completely remove facial skin from his face and replaced it with a skin substitutecalled Matriderm. This procedure was the first of its kind to be performed in a single operation.

Hundreds of surgical procedures to “repair” his face

Katie Piper a subi de numerous surgical operations to treat her wounds and she had to carry a plastic face mask 23 hours a day. Piper was even received in a clinic in the south of where the treatment was aimed at destroying scar tissue and to prevent contraction of the skin.
