It is the Colombian collective “Campaña Objetivo Libertad” which will present its documentary on legal setups followed by an exchange with Juliana Higuera, human rights defender, imprisoned following the 2021 general strike.
To get into the swing of things, we’re waiting for you from 2:30 p.m. to take part in a collective fresco, which will be carried out accompanied by our thoughts and writing cards to prisoners in Colombia.
To warm hearts, there will be a heated place and above all a good hot meal at the end of the day. Followed by a festive evening to dance a world that is built on the ruins of prisons !
Workshops and Fresco 2:30 p.m.
Porteous was born by dismantling the prison project that loomed in 2017. Remembering, paying homage to those whose struggle precedes us and allows us to exist, will be the essence of the fresco that will be realized.
The prisoners who resist are also actors who cannot remain in oblivion ! To be in thought with them, to talk about their situations and their struggles, to write in support, is to keep their struggle alive and continue building a dignified, united future, without bars or executioners.
Documentary 5:30 p.m.
They are VERSION no more legal setups
This documentary, produced in 2021 by the anti-carceral collective “Campaña Objetivo Libertad”, addresses the phenomenon of judicial setups in Colombia, through various touching cases, particularly students and graduates. It retraces a chapter of the criminalization of social and popular struggles in the recent history of the country.
Discussion 19h
Exchange with the Campaña Objetivo Libertad collective, Juliana Higuera
The collective is made up of detainees, ex-detainees and/or on trial for their participation in demonstrations or resistance processes, as well as their loved ones and support networks. They defend a prison abolitionist position since they have seen how instead of generating any transformation, prions exacerbate all forms of violence and oppression.
Their activities include
- psychosocial support for prisoners, particularly those during the general strike of 2019 and 2021
- documentation, systematization of cases and denunciation of abuses
- pedagogy and memory
Juliana Higuera is fighting an arduous battle.
Despite the legal persecution, her still open trial, her reality as a mother and her studies in rights and human rights, she continues body and soul to defend prisoners and people in resistance against the system of death imposed by the powerful. His first-hand experience promises a rich and prosperous exchange for the anti-carceral fight.
