The management of the Vichy hospital center has decided to trigger the “hospital tension plan”, the first level of crisis management in the face of emergency room congestion. Concretely, this involves strengthening teams, providing staff who can be mobilized and asking patients to contact 15 before going to the hospital.

Didier Aguilera, president of the establishment’s medical commission, specifies: “We have recorded an increase of more than 35% in emergency visits, with hospitalizations which have also increased. They are mainly linked to the flu. This fluctuates from day to day. This Thursday, January 9, the situation almost returned to normal , while on Monday, we were in a catastrophic situation Activate the ‘white plan’, that is to say bringing back staff during their leave or rest days, it was neither the time nor the place”.

The influx of patients is illustrated by photos leaked by staff representatives :

We see patients crowded in the corridor which leads to the radio. There were around thirty on Monday, 29 on Tuesday, according to the unions.

It was the staff representatives who requested the activation of the white plan. They always demand the creation of a post-emergency service because the congestion is regular. Antoine Jubin, secretary of the CGT union at the Vichy hospital center, specifies: “Our request is clear: we want the creation of a post-emergency service. The proposal was discussed with the service and field staff. This service would be intended to accommodate patients who generally require care in general medicine, often elderly and with multiple pathologies, and who need comprehensive management of their health. .

According to management, work is underway to improve reception in emergencies with the creation of route coordination and a bed management unit. In the meantime, the “hospital under pressure” plan will remain in effect as long as necessary.
