A first case of the new Mpox variant has been identified in France, the Ministry of Health indicated on Monday evening, January 6, 2025.
The ministry was informed of “a first human case of Mpox clade 1b on national territory, in Brittany. The recommended management measures have been put in place,” details the press release.
Symptoms of monkeypox
As we explained last August, the usual incubation of monkeypox is from 5 to 21 days. And the disease is contagious “as soon as symptoms appear”, indicated the Health Insurance website in an article.
The symptoms are scary: fever, muscle pain, fatigue, then extensive skin rash, which can lead to pustules, according to the French health organization.
The clade 1b variant appeared last summer. A first case outside Africa was then recorded in Sweden.
