This Tuesday January 7 and Wednesday January 8, the Association of Volunteer Blood Donors of Decazeville and its region as well as the French Blood Establishment of Rodez invite you to donate your blood, at the Laminoir, in Decazeville, from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The objective is to save the lives of sick and injured people in vital distress.
Regarding new donors, it is important to specify that blood donation takes place in 5 stages lasting approximately one hour: a medical team welcomes donors who must provide an identity document then complete a medical questionnaire which will be consulted only by medical personnel who, following a confidential interview, will determine suitability for donation. The sampling follows, which lasts around ten minutes. Always under medical and caring supervision, a snack is offered to all donors in a rest area.
To be able to donate blood, you must be aged 18 to 70, weigh at least 50 kg, be in good health and not come on an empty stomach. In the event of recent dental care, such as caries treatment or scaling, it is necessary to observe a period of 24 hours.
It is one week after antibiotic treatment, two weeks after an infectious episode and 4 months after a tattoo, piercing or endoscopy, a trip to a country where malaria is prevalent and it is 6 months after childbirth . All blood groups can be taken and if you have never donated blood before, your group will be determined on this occasion. 10,000 bags are in fact needed every day in France, knowing that each bag saves 3 lives. You can make an appointment on the site mon-rdv-dondesang.efs.sante.fr but walk-ins will also be welcome.
