Merveille Bokadi did not find a club after the end of his contract at Standard last summer. Cited in Türkiye, he could finally… return to Belgium!
Merveille Bokadi has not played since the end of his contract at Standard last summer. The 28-year-old defender was briefly cited last September by Turkey and Erzurumspor, but ultimately nothing came of it.
The former Rouche could therefore finally… bounce back in Belgium. Indeed, according to information from Sacha Tavolieri, transfer window specialist, Bokadi accompanied Dender during his winter internship. The objective is obviously to convince the promoted person to offer him a chance.
Merveille Bokadi joined Standard at a very young age in 2017 from TP Mazembe, and became a pillar there over the years. In 8 years with Rouches, he will have played 150 matches. Last season, however, he disappeared from the radar under Ivan Leko in the second half of the season.
His last match was on January 26, almost a year ago; if Dender offers him a contract, it will only be after having been reassured regarding his physical condition, crucial for the style of play offered by the strong Congolese.
Bokadi would, however, be, if he returns to a level comparable to his good years in Liège, a worthy addition to launch the Dender transfer window. It remains to be seen whether the Congolese international (29 caps) will convince during his trial period!
