Health in Val-de- #17: the flu is sweeping, medical center, Santa’s cancer, tribute to organ donors, Snoezelen area, disabled sports

The Villeneuve-Saint-Georges hospital dedicates a place to pay tribute to organ donors

Organ donations save or greatly improve lives, but most donated organs begin with a death. This tragedy which leads to a rebirth, the Villeneuve-Saint-Georges intercommunal hospital wanted not to hide it by creating a dedicated space. Symbolized by a tree of life, it is intended to “pay tribute and thank all organ and tissue donors, and offer everyone a place of contemplation”, explains the hospital which inaugurated it on December 16.

Collection of corneas, femoral head, and soon vessels

The Villeneuve-Saint-Georges Intercommunal Hospital Center (Chiv) currently practices types of samples: the cornea and the femoral head. In 2023, 41 donations, or 82 corneas, were made to Chiv and sent to the Banque Française des Yeux for a transplant. Since its implementation in June 2024, 8 femoral head samples have also been taken at the Villeneuvien hospital.

The hospital tissue sampling coordination team (CHPT), made up of Doctor Gabriel Laurent, coordinating physician, and four nurses, is currently training in vessel sampling. These should start during the year 2025. These vessel grafts allow “the revascularization of a patient’s lower limbs, the replacement of infected prostheses or bypass surgery in an infected environment as well as the creation of a vascular access for hemodialysis”details the hospital.

The flu is sweeping across Ile-de-

Visits to emergency rooms for flu and flu syndrome increased by 72% in Ile-de-France, the week of December 2 to 8, with 1,579 cases, above visits for bronchiolitis (1,059 visits) in decline by 16% and gastroenteritis (1,023 passages) up by 4%. Covid-19, on the other hand, only sent 83 people to the emergency room during this same period. Influenza and influenza syndrome also represented 1,524 SOS Médecins actions, an increase of 88%. The share of influenza syndromes in SOS Médecins acts represented 12.6% that week, an increase of 5.2 points. The positivity rate for the influenza virus (flu) in hospitals increased from 3.97% to 10.45% in two weeks.

The new medical center in Noiseau made it possible to maintain the same number of general practitioners in town

Located in upper Val-de-, Noiseau is not immune to medical desertification. “A few years ago, one of three GPs in the town was preparing to retire and we were going to be left with just two doctors for every 5,000 people. We then thought that if we did not open a medical center, we would never succeed in attracting a new general practitioner. motivates the mayor of the city, Yvan Femel (LR). An achievement carried out during a real estate project in the city center.

Financially, the project was supported by the Grand Sud Est Avenir intercommunality which purchased premises on the ground floor of 275 m2 and fully equipped it. An investment of 1.4 million euros partly subsidized by the Ile-de-France region and the Regional Health Agency (ARS) at the rate of 250,000 each, to supplement the 900,000 euros provided by the territory. The Regional Union of Health Professionals (URPS) also provided engineering support.

Objective: to offer attractive rents to doctors who are setting up, a comfortable setting and a collective practice space. The house, which opened in the summer of 2023, but was inaugurated a few days ago, today welcomes two general practitioners, one of whom already practiced in Noiseau and the other in Ormesson. For the city, this therefore makes it possible to maintain the number of general practitioners at three, since another continues to practice from his own office. Other specialties have joined forces. Two midwives and a gynecologist are on duty there. The house also has a nurses’ office and a clinical psychologist. And there is still one box available for a caregiver. “We hope for the arrival of a fourth general practitioner to support the increase in population expected with the development of the agro-district”, the mayor projects.

However, the medical center does not treat minor emergencies. For this, there is the Sami of Sucy-en-Brie.

Gustave Roussy tells the story of Santa’s cancer

The Gustave Roussy cancer center, based in , has decided to raise awareness about cancer and call for donations to finance research, by telling the story of Santa’s cancer. This disease will affect one in two people during their lifetime, recalls the center. “Today, 66 % of cancers can be cured.
