Inside le live: an experience of lively and inclusive journalism

Carried by Marie-Christine Lipani, professor of information and communication sciences at Bordeaux Montaigne University, the podcast Inside le live aims to combat the stigmatization of people with psychiatric disorders. A look back at the first recording sessions carried out by users of the Charles Perrens hospital center.
On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in the refectory of an open psychosocial rehabilitation unit (Unir 3 of the UNIVA adult psychiatry center) of the Charles Perrens hospital center, a singular redevelopment is at work. For a few hours, the space abnormally cluttered with radio equipment was transformed into a podcast recording studio Inside le live. An initiative that brings together the healthcare establishment and Bordeaux Montaigne University.
For this, Marie-Christine Lipani, journalist, professor of information and communication sciences and head of the Media, Societies and Culture axis of the MICA research unit (UR 4426), surrounded herself with Olivier Uguen, radio journalist and teacher-researcher associated with theTHE ACCIDENTthe care teams of Sophie Boutinaud (UNIVA) and Thomas Lecumberry (Unir 3) as well as Adèle Hollebecque, doctoral student at MICA.
A project designed with and for society
It was during two recording sessions that users took turns at the microphone to interview the former international rugby player and triple French champion Rémi Lamerat and the Perigord singer Tibz, in front of a public made up of users, healthcare staff and journalists. With disconcerting ease and a lot of humor, these apprentice columnists demonstrated great curiosity and insight in their questions dealing with sporting and artistic careers, mental health or life. deprived of their interlocutors, delighted to take part in the exercise.

This result is the fruit of long work begun three months earlier in order to meet regularly with participants to train them in the journalistic approach, in public speaking and to reduce the self-stigma that they sometimes experience. due to their psychiatric disorders. The objectives are therefore multiple: to help patients cope better with their condition, to better inform the general public on this subject and to change the way in which it is treated in the media.
This initiative funded as part of the 2024 Research Call for Projects of the establishment’s scientific policy falls entirely within the scope of the actions of the Science label with and for society. Inside le live supports an action research project funded by theANRin collaboration with Marie Tournier, psychiatrist, university professor and practitioner. This will lead to the creation of a quarterly society review designed by users of the hospital center through their views and sensitivities: INSIDE.
