With the holidays, donations are often down, but the sick don’t wait. On Thursday, December 26, a blood drive will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Espace des Caouecs.
A simple blood donation can save three lives. Red blood cells are useful for patients suffering from hemorrhage or women who have had a difficult birth. Blood platelets can be transferred to patients with leukemia or cancer. Plasma is intended for patients suffering from genetic diseases or immune deficiencies.
Donating blood is a gesture of solidarity that helps treat more than 1 million patients each year. At the end of the year, the French Blood Establishment in the Garonne Basin has 13 days of stocks and remains vigilant on the evolution of reserves for the days to come. Between December 16 and 29, for each blood donation made in Occitanie, the French Blood Establishment will pay €1 to the Enfants Cancer Santé association.
Volunteers from the Constance la petite warrior astronaute associations (which organizes the event), Laurette Fugain and Adot31, will be present at the collection in order to provide participants with all the information on the different gifts of life. Little Christmas surprises will await donors for the snack at the end of the donation.
