On September 11, Daniel, a 75-year-old retiree, felt unwell in the ambulance that was taking him to the hospital and died a few hours later after sepsis, it was reported. Free Midday. Annie, his wife, decided to file a complaint and become a civil party with the Montpellier prosecutor, who opened an investigation. She criticizes the processing times.
The man was suffering from diabetes and circulatory problems in his legs when he went to the pedicurist on August 30 for an ingrown toenail. A meeting that went badly according to his wife: “When he left the office, he was as white as a sheet. He told me that he had been in real pain (…) He had a bandage, he had bled. No precautions had been taken regarding the treatment What was my husband taking?.
Several hours before being transported to hospital
Daniel's condition, which weighed almost 130 kg, did not improve. He even felt unwell in the toilet on September 3. It was the firefighters who had to intervene to free it. Annie then decided to contact her doctor, who urgently prescribed antibiotics because he suspected an infection.
Everything accelerated in the following days. A blood test revealed the presence of a staphylococcus infection. On September 11, in the middle of the day, Annie contacted the firefighters because “Daniel had difficulty breathing”. It was ultimately the Samu who sent a private ambulance, but the retiree could not be transported due to his build. On several occasions, the paramedics contacted the dispatch center, to no avail.
It was only at 4 p.m. that the Samu took Daniel to the emergency room of Saint-Clair hospital in Sète. But in the vehicle, the 75-year-old man suffered a heart attack. “The intensive care doctor was clear, he told me that it was not certain that we could save him”indicated Annie. Around 11 p.m., Daniel finally died in hospital. His wife is now demanding answers on the medical channel.
