Publisher presentation

Enter the mysterious world of mushrooms.
Surprise yourself. Ask yourself.
The fungal kingdom has so much to teach us!

Conductors of our ecosystems (without them, no life on earth!), these “beings” of networks and resilience never cease to surprise us. Did you know, for example, that they constantly shape the floors? That between them they speak a language? That they are a real reservoir of medicinal molecules? That thanks to them the desert can become green again? That their spores play with the weather? That their mycelium makes billions of decisions under our feet, like a living microprocessor?… By their structure, their “functioning” or their properties, they are sources of inspiration in various fields such as medicine, chemistry, logistics , engineering, art or technology.

In this work, the author invites us to dive into the extraordinary world of mushrooms. A discovery that could transform our world!

Valérie’s review

The German Peeter Wohlleben demonstrated to us the power of trees, communicating with each other, defending themselves, and even attacking their enemies. His research, augmented by prestigious scientific studies, shed light on the action of mushrooms in the construction of this communication network.

Guillaume E. Lopez is the author of a fascinating book on fungi and helps us discover in much more detail what these living organisms are. We learn that, to be fair, we must instead use the term fungi, representing the entire plant kingdom, the visible and known, like these invisible networks because they are underground or microscopic. We understood that they were different from plants, without really understanding what that could imply. Enter the wonderful world of these extraordinary organisms.

Thanks to the fluidity of Guillaume E. Lopez’s style, we have the impression of knowing a new means of communication as we understand this new living community in an empathetic way. The model is superb, both aesthetic and very logical. Numerous inserts surround the text in the form of a confession between the author and the reader, with pretty illustrations, to learn more about known items or other extraordinary ones.

The little-known and discreet genius of mushrooms is an excellent way to become interested in another form of life while learning many concepts in biology. This book allows us to observe what surrounds us in a completely different way, and that is priceless!
