Saturday November 16, 2024, at Château-Thierry (Aisne), the members of Lions Club City of Fables were mobilized within the framework of the national diabetes screening day. In town, the Leclerc store hosted this service club chaired by Olivier Devron for the occasion.
Everywhere in France
This initiative, set up by Lider diabetes (Lions International Screening And Research) takes place every year in France.
During all this prevention dayseven volunteer members of the local service club, a doctor member, six state-certified nurses and a medical student offered free diabetes screening to all those interested.
150 tests
The organizers point out that diabetes is a frequent, sneaky, serious disease because it is little knownneglected or treated too late. It exposes patients to numerous complications: heart attack, arthritis, amputation, progressive blindness, renal failure, etc.
At the end of the day, the results are more than positive. In fact, more than 150 blood sugar tests were carried out by the medical staff present.
They add: “Prevention, understanding nutrition mechanisms, measuring blood sugar levels are all ways to fight this scourge. »
This is what the volunteer members of the Lions Club Cité des Fables, accompanied by nurses, focused on throughout this successful day.
