The League Against Cancer will be moving. Currently hosted in premises close to the hospital, the Lozère departmental branch has purchased a house in the Beauséjour district of Mende. A home where she can carry out all her activities: foot reflexology, yoga or discussion groups for example. Explanations with Fabienne Hierle, the president of the Lozère branch of the League.
We had been looking to move for several months. Already because we are welcoming more and more patients. We have around 200 people. We also realized that accessibility to our current premises was not easy. People in wheelchairs or on crutches or who have difficulty getting around are not always able to come to us. We wanted to secure access because where we are currently, we are near Avenue du 8 Mai and it is a fairly dangerous intersection. We are on a slope and we have a lot of cars circulating. We also wanted to welcome people in better conditions in terms of hygiene for care.
The house should open next spring, but the accessibility work involves a surplus of €100,000 over the planned budget.
We have a lot of work to bring up to standards. We had some administrative constraints which required us to carry out additional work at a slightly significant additional cost. Nearly 100,000 euros of additional work that we had not initially planned. It is the installation of an elevator, development work on the sanitary level. Despite cash flow which remains quite adequate, we are appealing to the public to ask them to make a small donation to help us subsidize all this work.
