Adventist Health Howard Memorial Hospital, located in Willits, California, recently acquired a revolutionary training tool: the Ares Emergency Care Manikin. This acquisition, made possible thanks to the generosity of the Frank R. Howard Foundation, marks a significant step forward in the training of the establishment’s medical staff.

The Ares manikin, developed by CAE, a company specializing in simulation technologies, offers a unique training experience for front-line nurses and clinical staff. Combining the simplicity of an emergency care manikin with unparalleled patient physiology, Ares allows a variety of medical scenarios to be simulated with striking realism.

Holly Bennett, infection prevention coordinator at the hospital, highlights the impressive and sophisticated capabilities of the mannequin, which can run complete advanced cardiac care (ACLS) training scenarios autonomously, recording every action performed by the team Training.

Among its features, Ares can simulate various medical conditions such as heart attacks and strokes. It also offers detailed 3D visualization of internal anatomy, allowing nurses to better understand and explain disease processes to patients.

The mannequin responds to touch, breathes spontaneously, and allows the practice of numerous medical procedures, from intubation to cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This technology, typically reserved for nursing schools and educational institutions, is now available to staff at Adventist Health Howard Memorial.

Since its acquisition, Ares has been used for intensive care training, emergency medicine, and even at Redwood Medical Clinic for physician assistant training.

This initiative fits perfectly with the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to live God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope. It demonstrates the continued commitment of our health institutions to providing high-quality care, in line with the most recent technological advances.
