At the initiative of the Thau Basin Hospitals and the City of Sète, the Colon Tour will take place this Saturday, November 23 on the town hall square. Objective: to encourage screening for a cancer that is curable when detected early.

The Colon Tour will be in Sète this Saturday, November 23. At the initiative of the Hôpitaux du Bassin de Thau and the City of Sète, the operation to raise awareness and prevent colorectal cancer, a disease which affects nearly 48,000 new people each year in , will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. h, Place Léon-Blum.

With its giant 6-meter inflatable structure, the Colon Tour will be set up at the town hall square to offer visitors an immersive and unique educational experience. Participants will be able to explore the interior of this organ, visualize the different possible lesions and concretely understand the crucial importance of early detection. The teams from the Hôpitaux du Bassin de Thau (gastroenterologists, oncologists, surgeons) will be present to interact with visitors. Interactive and fun activities are also planned to make the experience both informative and engaging.

Screening recommended twice a year for 50-74 year olds

Recommended every 2 years for women and men aged 50 to 74, the test is available free of charge using a kit available from your doctor, pharmacist or online (https://monkit.depistage-colorectal.fr ). Kits can also be distributed by HBT doctors on site.

Although cured nine times out of ten when detected early, colon cancer remains the second most deadly cancer in France due to insufficient screening (34%), in both men and women.
