  • A digital twin is a model integrating a patient’s medical data, making it possible to simulate the functioning of an organ, or even the entire body, using artificial intelligence.

  • A research project aims to create digital twins useful in the treatment of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes – when blood flow to the brain is interrupted by the obstruction of an artery or the rupture of an aneurysm.

  • Protecting patient medical data is crucial to prevent it from ending up in the wrong hands.

What if a digital copy of our body could help better manage strokes? This idea – far from being far-fetched – is at the heart of the GEMINI project which brings together 20 university and industrial research institutions from Europe, the United States and Taiwan, including the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG).

The goal: to create digital twins useful for the treatment of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes (when blood flow to the brain is interrupted by the obstruction of an artery or the rupture of an aneurysm), in order to be able to predict their evolution, estimate the risks of complications or even formulate personalized treatment recommendations.
