From 1is November marks No Tobacco Month. During this thirty-day national challenge, smokers are invited to quit cigarettes. To do this, several initiatives and mobilizations have been launched at the local level.

The Fougères hospital (Ille-et-Vilaine) has set up an information stand, installed in the hall. It will be accessible to all audiences. The speakers will also go to the maternity ward to raise awareness among young parents.

“We have to break habits”

With this new edition, we want to motivate people to come for consultation to help them stop smoking, indicates Doctor Emmanuel Naudeix.There are no statistics to know how many smokers actually quit. But many people try to stop it, or at least think about it. We have to break habits.

And to help smokers stop smoking, there are several possibilities.
“It is possible to reduce in stages,
says the doctor. Nicotine is addictive, but it is the other products contained in cigarettes that are dangerous. This is why vaping is less harmful. It can help reduce addiction.

And substitution treatments, such as patches and lozenges – partially reimbursed, upon presentation of a medical prescription – make it possible to block nicotine receptors.

“The Eugène-Marquis center (located in ) installed a tobacco-free garden to motivate patients. For our part, we would like to find a place in the hospital to allow staff to smoke in better conditions.

Tobacco-free Month hours: Hall of the Fougères hospital (Ille-et-Vilaine) and at the House of Users and Associations. Thursdays November 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2024. From 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Visits to the maternity ward are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the same days.
