XALIMANEWS-Julien Stéphan, the coach of Stade Rennais, seems to be on an ejection seat after a crushing defeat at Auxerre (4-0) last Sunday. This setback has seriously compromised his position as head of the team, and his resignation or dismissal appears to be increasingly likely.
However, the question remains how long he will remain in office. And regarding its possible replacement, several avenues are mentioned. Frédéric Massara, sporting director of the club, seems to have an interest in Rudi Garcia, former coach of Lille, OM and OL. However, this option is now uncertain, because Rudi Garcia does not seem sufficiently interested in the Rennes project, which is cooling the discussions.
Also, the option of Sergio Conceiçao, the former coach of FC Porto who is currently free from any commitment, is being considered. However, Conceiçao’s salary demands would be a major obstacle, which complicates the possibility of recruiting him.
But according to Footmercato which takes information from RMC, another profile is starting to emerge as a serious option: Habib Beye. The former international defender, now coach, could be a possible solution. He is free and could be accompanied by Mathieu Le Scornet, who already knows Stade Rennais having been assistant to Julien Stéphan in the past. This solution seems to gain credibility and could allow the club to start again on new bases with a duo formed by Beye and Le Scornet.
