After his project Metamorphées or the praise of the dawn which led photographer Anne-Cécile Estèves to photograph people from at home when they wake up, the artist is today interested in romantic encounters.

“I am like everyone else, affected by what is happening in the world on a social and environmental level. It’s very anxiety-inducing, depressing. » Also the photographer decides to set up a project (in partnership with Tombées de la nuit and Territoires) “first of all to do me good, to hear beautiful stories. »

For four months, she will meet the people of Rennes, hold visits in different parts of the city, to ask them to tell her their stories of romantic encounters, “because we still have the beautiful and the poetic. Love is what connects us, everyone has a story to tell.”

From all these recorded testimonies, these intimate stories, Anne-Cécile Estèves will create a map of Rennes, through a photographic creation, “not portraits, but photos, outdoors, indoors, of this city of Rennes with which I fell in love ten years ago”.

To collect testimonies of love, Anne-Cécile-Estèves will also go to Rennes 2 University, to a nursing home, to a social restaurant… “to have people of all ages, all origins. » The photographer will also tow and post classified ads in businesses. “What I already like is that the idea of ​​the project makes you smile. »

After a collection period, the project will give rise to a photo exhibition at the end of 2025, at Les Halles en commun, in La Courrouze. “I would also like to present it in public space, walking around, with perhaps the possibility of hearing testimonies through headphones. »
