In order to improve the health of the population and bring together health stakeholders in Haute Saintonge, the Community of Communes (CdCHS) and the regional health agency signed a commitment in 2020 to work on a local health contract ( CLS).
In this context, this year, the CLS is organizing discussion meetings entitled “Women’s Health Moments”. The initiative is supported by the CdCHS and the Mutualité sociale agricole. It also benefits from the collaboration of Health Insurance, the Charente-Maritime Department, the local Mission of Haute Saintonge and the Jonzac Hospital Center.
Weaknesses in medical monitoring
“The health diagnosis of the territory revealed weaknesses in the medical monitoring of women, particularly in terms of prevention. For example, only 49% of women aged 50 to 74 in Haute Saintonge participated in the breast cancer screening program, compared to 55% at the regional level according to 2019 data,” explains the CdCHS communications department. .
Mobility issues
The causes of these inequalities are multiple. Among which, difficulties in accessing general practitioners or specialists, mobility problems, a lack of information on the role of midwives, low awareness of preventive actions or even a lack of knowledge of the impacts of environmental health. “The objective is to enable women to become actors of their own health. During these days, they will be able to freely discuss with professionals on the subjects that concern them before even considering a consultation.”
The first two meetings take place in Montendre on November 19 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Claude Augier village hall, and in Montguyon on November 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the multipurpose room. All women, regardless of their age, are invited to participate, without prior registration.
