The third edition of No Tobacco Month will be held throughout the month of November.
To quit smoking, participants benefit from 28 days of professional support and support from the event’s Facebook community. According to the Ligue Pulmonaire Vaudoise, Tobacco-Free Month is important to improve prevention against cigarettes, which is still lacking in Switzerland.
In fact, participation in this type of challenge increases the chances of returning to a smoke-free life by five. Virginie Bréhier, head of prevention at the Ligue Pulmonaire Vaudoise, advises not to fear failure before even starting.
The organizers point out that cigarettes are the leading cause of avoidable mortality in Switzerland and cost the health system more than 5 billion francs each year. This year, nearly 10,000 people are participating in the tobacco-free month, half of whom are from French-speaking Switzerland.
