Cigarette smokers are generally aware that their skin is likely to show signs of premature aging. But what about vapers? Do they also have recognizable signs on their skin? The answer is yes, according to the experts interviewed by the Daily Mail, particularly for generation Z, born between 1997 and 2012, who are the most adapted to e-cigarettes. Indeed, the toxic chemicals contained in electronic cigarettes break down the organic elements that allow us to keep our skin young. Dr Bav Shergill, of the British Association of Dermatologists, explains that nicotine is one of the main culprits of skin conditions.

Nicotine and sun accelerate aging

“Nicotine is associated with all kinds of skin problems. Acne, psoriasis and rashes,” he explains. This addictive substance found in tobacco and vaping products can break down elastic fibers in the skin. This degradation can be very visible and occur at a young age. He adds: “If you take two people, twins for example, and you have one who smokes and likes a bit of sun, and you look at them at the age of 25, you can see the difference between they. Aging begins very early with smoking and exposure to the sun.”
