Menopause has long been a taboo subject. For years, it was associated with a rather depressing image against the backdrop of EHPADs. Fortunately, times are changing and the subject is becoming more and more discussed, in a positive way. The fact remains that naturally, this is still linked to events, which are not always positive for the woman’s body and mind. If this period in women’s lives is characterized by the cessation of ovulation and the disappearance of periods, it is also often associated with uncontrolled weight gain, hot flashes, trouble sleepingto name just that. A list as long as an arm’s length of physical and psychological symptoms but fortunately, two Australian researchers have found two foods to ban from your diet to alleviate them.

More and more of them are addressing the subject of menopause, among celebrities. Monica Bellucci, Cameron Diaz, Gillian Anderson, Sophie Davant and Angelina Jolie are also among the many celebrities to have discussed the subject of menopause. Carla Bruni, 56 years old, and Estelle Lefébure, 57 years old, had to find a way to keep their bodies the way they love and know them, during this period. And if they bet on a revolutionary method, that of Céline Roywhich in fact offers a course based on breathing and “toning” of the abdomen which allows you to continue to sculpt a changing body, they will perhaps be curious about the results of the research of the two Australians. The researchers estimate, as reported on the site Marie-Clairethat it is essential to review your diet to better understand this period full of upheavals.

What diet is recommended after 50?

They thus looked at the impact of diet on the health of postmenopausal women as part of a study, published in July 2024 in the journal European Journal of Nutritionand by following more than 200 Australian women for several months, they drew clear conclusions. Their study highlighted that two types of foods should be avoided to limit the effects of menopause: sugary drinks (them again!) and red meat. Thus, women who consumed fewer sugary drinks were found to be those who suffered the least from joint and muscle pain. Those who consume less red meat have better overall health. It is therefore advisable to follow a diet inspired by the principles of the Mediterranean diet : rich in fruits, vegetables, fish and vegetable oils. Enough to approach menopause on the best footing.
