In Catalonia, a police operation made it possible to dismantle a network specializing in heroin and cocaine trafficking on October 3. Four suspects were arrested. Among their methods for transporting the goods: the use of yogurt pots.
An unusual concealment. On October 3, in Catalonia, a police operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the dismantling of a drug trafficking network. Seven searches were carried out in the towns of La Jonquera, Figueres and Cabanes.
The four suspects, aged 38 to 60, used a rather original method to transport the goods. They smuggled the heroin in sealed yogurt pots and sold it to other traffickers who crossed the French border to collect the drugs.
The individuals, having already been the subject of 14 convictions for drug trafficking, kept different types of substances at their home and in a grocery store in La Jonquera.
In total, officers searched 900 grams of heroin, approximately 4 kilos of cocaine, in powder and rock form, more than a kilo of hashish and cutting substances. They also found 277,000 euros in cash and a firearm.
500 grams of heroin in yogurt pots
Last May, a patrol of the Mossos d’Esquadra, the autonomous police force of Catalonia, arrested two individuals in La Jonquera last May in possession of 17 bags containing various types of drugs. Among them, 500 grams of heroin hidden in tightly closed yogurt pots.
A joint investigation by the customs surveillance service of the Tax Agency, focused on the localities of La Jonquera, Figueres and Cabanes, therefore made it possible to locate the individuals and put an end to this drug trafficking network.
A judicial investigation has been opened. The suspects are being prosecuted for drug trafficking, criminal conspiracy and organized gang, as well as illegal possession of weapons.
