The mother and stepfather of a two-year-old girl found dead after being repeatedly beaten are accused of inflicting horrible and cruel treatment on the child and even walking around her body for three days, report several British media.

On June 30, 2023, authorities found the remains of little Isabella Wheildon in a hotel room in the town of Ipswich, in eastern England. The body was marked by several traces of violence on the head, neck, thorax, back and limbs.

Both her wrists were broken and a pelvic fracture involving several bones suggested that the girl had been kicked or even trampled.

Some injuries date back to two weeks before his death while others were inflicted six hours before his death.

The autopsy confirmed that the little girl died of a spinal embolism caused by the presence of marrow, due to the fractures suffered, in Isabella’s blood. This situation caused embolisms to the lungs, which reduced the girl’s ability to breathe.

Her mother, Chelsea Gleason-Mitchell, and her partner, Scott Jeff, both 24, were arrested the day after the girl’s body was discovered. They were accused of killing little Isabella.

The mother allegedly admitted to having let her partner kill the child.

Between the presumed date of Isabella’s death and the discovery of her body, three days passed during which the couple not only hid the child’s death, but also carried her remains in a stroller.

Hours after the child’s death, the two defendants were allegedly filmed by a surveillance camera as they went to buy a bottle of lemonade at a gas station, while carrying Isabella in a stroller.

On July 28, two days after the girl’s death, another surveillance camera would show the stepfather placing the child’s body in his stroller and the mother would be seen smiling nearby. The couple then went to a pub in the evening.

The next day, they would have gone shopping, still carrying Isabella’s body in a stroller. In particular, they allegedly purchased electronic equipment, including video game accessories.

Subsequently, the mother allegedly sent an email message to a friend to tell her that her daughter had died in her sleep and that her body was in her stroller in the bathroom.

Ms Gleason-Mitchell’s friend reportedly advised her to contact the police, but the mother responded that Isabella’s body was covered in bruises, as well as having black eyes, and that she didn’t want her and her partner to be bothered by the authorities.

Gleason-Mitchell reportedly told her friend that she planned to bury the body and hoped no one would find her.

Little Isabella’s life would be turned into a nightmare when her mother met Scott Jeff.

The child would then have suffered an “escalation of brutality, harsh, cruel and ultimately fatal”.

A 14-year-old boy told investigators that he went to the couple’s hotel room to consume cannabis and saw the stepfather kick the girl’s stroller and slap the child. The mother would have witnessed the scene without reacting.

The young witness adds that he then saw Scott Jeff place the stroller in the shower and turn on the faucet.

Subsequently, the couple and the teenager went out to smoke, leaving the child alone in the room.

Another adult who stayed at the same hotel also mentioned hearing the little girl crying constantly one evening, to the point where he knocked on the door around 2 a.m. The witness then allegedly saw Scott Jeff repeatedly hitting the wall with a towel in his hands.
