Apart from life-threatening emergencies, it is advisable to first contact your family doctor. He will carry out an initial diagnosis and decide whether your state of health requires emergency treatment.

As a reminder :

– The speed of emergency treatment is linked to the seriousness of the cases and not to the order of arrival.

– The visit and the care provided are not free. They will be honored by an invoice sent to the home.

-Only exception: you have been admitted to the department in the previous 7 days and your question relates to your care (unfavorable development, side effects of a medication, problem with a prescription, etc.).

Enhanced continuing education

All existing doctors are committed to continuing education. As explained by Dr Swerts, head of the emergency department of the CHC Hermalle and Heusy Clinics, this training is provided via three routes: transmission of international literature, simulation workshops organized by Nicolas Hansroul, head nurse of emergency service in Heusy, and privileged contacts currently being developed with various references in the field. “Therefore, even if they are not all doctors trained specifically in emergency medicine, they have the skills to handle frequent clinical situations. The most complex situations will be managed jointly with specialized medical resources. The means put in place for continuing training will enable them to constantly improve their skills to be fully efficient in the situations they encounter or to meet the requirements of this rich and varied practice, for the benefit of patients who maintain their confidence,” emphasizes Frédéric Swerts
