The Human Behind the Care Campaign

Denise Laperle, a practical nurse from Laval, is in the spotlight in the “The human behind the care” campaign, which highlights the Practical Nurses Day from May 5. For the occasion, she recounted her journey to host Marie-Claude Barrette, in addition to being featured in the book published on this occasion.

After attending 36 foster homes and living in youth centers from the age of 10, Denise decided to devote her life to caring for others, as a practical nurse.

The importance of health professionals no longer needs to be proven. However, the 30,000 auxiliary nurses in Quebec, 1,415 of whom are in the Laval region, are working hard, still too often in the shadows. This day aims to highlight them and recognize their essential work.

As part of the campaign The human behind the care aimed at highlighting the Practical Nurses Day from May 5, host Marie-Claude Barrette receives the secrets of four ambassadors of the profession, who tell how their experiences have shaped the caregivers they have become today. With the delicacy and empathy that we know from her, Marie-Claude transports us into the world of those who devote their lives to caring for others and who make all the difference.
