Harris English held off Sam Stevens' charge to win his fifth PGA Tour title, the Farmers Insurance Open, at age 35. Antoine Rozner grabs a place in the top 50.
It took nerves of steel to resist the return of Sam Stevens. That's good, when it comes to calm, the placid Harris English arises there. His rival was long in the clubhouse with a signed card of 68, the best of the day in the entire field of players, and a total of -7. The 35-year-old veteran was -8. He just had to hold on. What he did wonderfully by ending his tournament with 12 consecutive pars. Although not brilliant, the Georgia player was solid to succeed Matthew Pavon in this Farmers Insurance Open.

“It's hard to win, recognized the one whose last victory dates back to 2021, i.e. 1308 days of waiting. On the outside, I look very calm, but I can tell you that I was boiling inside at the end. Winning is so much fun. »
A bit like Pavon a year ago, English lost his drive to the left on the last hole. After refocusing, he managed to find the gree in regulation and ensured the two-putt was synonymous with success.
Behind the winner and Sam Stevens (both qualified for next week's Signature Event, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am), the podium is completed by another American, Andrew Novakwho has long been in the running to win, too. But a bogey at 15 was fatal to him. He too will still go to Pebble Beach. And he will also console himself with the putt of the day.
Rozner, first and last, colored cards
The only Frenchman to have made the cut did not manage to take advantage of this weekend at Torrey Pines. Antoine Rozner like others, suffered the horrors of the South Course. Despite six birdies, the Racingman scored 75 (+3), the fault of seven bogeys and a double bogey. He only recorded four pars on his card, like in the 2nd round. His games, throughout the week, were very hectic, except during his first day on the North Course (-5).
-He simply finished leader in the number of birdies (21) but last (70th) in the number of bogeys conceded (21).
The fact remains that at one of the most difficult tournaments of the year, Rozner took a first step in his rookie year as a member of the PGA Tour. His 48th place is not very beneficial in terms of points, but symbolic.
Åberg, Theegala, Matsuyama, the favorites explode
And the Frenchman does not have to be ashamed of his difficulties in the last lap, which was marked by the return of significant gusts of wind. Big headliners like Ludvig Åberg (79), Sahith Theegala (80) et Hideki Matsuyama (76) cracked this last round played on a Saturday, once is not customary.
Torrey Pines released his claws. Those who will be back on the South Course for the Genesis Invitational in February are notified.
