Even though he had already “technically” made the cut in PGA Tour tournaments (at two British Opens), Antoine Rozner qualified for the weekend for the very first time in his career as a member of the PGA Round. At the resumption of the 2nd round of the Farmers Insurance Open, a bogey and a birdie on the last two holes that remained to play made him happy.

Eliminations of the title holder Matthew Pavon and Victor Perez were already acquired, even if the 2nd round could not be completed before night. When play resumed very early this morning (7:30 a.m.) in San Diego, Antoine Rozner was therefore the last French hope in this Farmers Insurance Open. With two holes to play and three points ahead of the cut line, he seemed well on his way to saving the honor of the Blues.

The Racingman performed his task perfectly by making a bogey and a birdie on holes 17 and 18 of the South Course. A final 3.30m putt on his 36th hole is synonymous with qualification and provisional 25th place before the start of the 3rd round, also scheduled for this Saturday.

A cut set at +1

This is the very first cut crossed by Antoine Rozner as a member of the PGA Tour. Like all the other players, he had to fight to get by in the gusts of wind, like these nine holes on the return leg of the South Course on which he did not score par once: three birdies and six bogeys! His final 76 is certainly not exceptional, but the excellent 67 of the first day on the North Course allows him to take the plunge.

In addition to the defending champion Matthieu Pavon, the cut line (set at +1) caused notable victims in a tournament already stripped of many headliners. Ryder Cup players Tony Controversy, Shane Lowry, Justin Rose et Francesco Molinari are eliminated, while Max Homahe had given up playing his last morning holes, being already sure of not being able to qualify.

The two leaders are Ludvig Åberg et Lanto Griffin at -6. Antoine Rozner is one of around forty players to be under par (-1 total). He will compete in his 3rd round alongside the Italian Matteo Manassero and the American Ryan Gerard.
