addresses a penalty to Bercy!

Red card to Bercy! In , we would rather talk about a penalty. After a year 2024 marked by historic performances and a rediscovered national passion for French sport, the State announces a drastic reduction of 40% of the sport budget. This decision is a hard blow for the future of our disciplines, and we cannot resign ourselves to it.

As president of the French Golf Federation, I would like to express my deep disagreement. This measure endangers not only our sport, but also all the benefits it brings to our society.

Sport is much more than just a physical activity. It is :

  • An essential tool for public health. Golf, open to all generations, is a practice that promotes physical activity, prevents diseases linked to a sedentary lifestyle and improves mental well-being.
  • A pillar of social inclusion. Our grounds are places where people from all backgrounds meet and flourish, sharing common values of mutual aid and respect.
  • A key economic and environmental player. Golf clubs contribute to local dynamism by creating jobs and enhancing our territories while promoting environmentally friendly management.

Reducing this budget means risking:

  • The closure of many clubs. Courses threatened by insufficient funding, depriving thousands of enthusiasts of their field of expression.
  • Limited access for young people. Fewer resources mean fewer introductions and opportunities to introduce new generations to golf.
  • The future of our high-level athletes. Athletes, inspirational role models, could see their careers compromised by a lack of support.

It is sport as a whole that is in danger, and with it, thousands of lives, projects and initiatives. We must react! Let's support our clubs. Let's ensure every child has the chance to play sport. Let's preserve the future of our athletes and our sports culture.
