A heavy defeat by Romain Langasque (5&4) against Laurie Canter and a tug of war lost by Matthieu Pavon in front of an impressive Tommy Fleetwood (photo) offer victory to the British Isles and Ireland in this 2025 Team Cup. The singles duels are however far from finished and the bill could be very steep for the Continentals who are currently only leading in one game!

Undefeated in doubles in three matches, Matthew Pavon et Romain Langasque lost in the singles this Sunday in Abu Dhabi. The player, despite a very above average quality of play, was unable to do anything against an unplayable Tommy Fleetwoodvictorious 3&1 at the exit of hole 17 having hit an eagle and eight birdies (for only one bogey). The best French golfer in the world ranking (31st) for his part played -4 (six birdies, two bogeys).

A little earlier, the Riviera, a birdie in fourteen holes, never managed to enter his match against Laurie Canterincisive from hole no. 1 with a limp chip from long distance. What followed was just a long journey of the cross which finally ended for the Frenchman at hole no. 14 with a bitter 5&4!

With these two points, the British Isles and Ireland win this Team Cup 2025 (14-4 so far with the victory of Tyrrell Hatton 3&1 sur Thorbjørn Olesen). And the final score could be even tougher at the end of the day…
