Great victory for the women's national Golf team during the 16th edition of the All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT). This event, organized for the first time in Morocco from November 28 to 30 on the Tazegzout Golf Course in Agadir, marked a turning point for Moroccan women's golf.
Facing 20 nations, including South Africa, victorious in 14 of the 15 previous editions, the Moroccan golfers shone. Made up of Sofia Cherif Essakali, Rim Imni, Nadia Sanz Ouezzani and led by their captain Raja Hasnaoui, the national team won with an exceptional score of -7, ahead of South Africa by two shots (-5). Kenya completes the podium with a score of +7.
The individual performance of Sofia Cherif Essakali, aged only 15, was decisive. With a personal score of -12, she dominated the competition and won the individual title, becoming the second Moroccan in history to win this distinction. Already an Arab champion, Sofia confirms her status as a future star of African and world golf.
This triumph reflects the ambitious strategy of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG), led by Prince Moulay Rachid, which focuses on structured programs to develop young talents. The federation also salutes the sporting spirit of the participating nations and thanks its partners, including the R&A and the AACT Association, for their support for the development of women's golf in Africa.
By hosting this continental competition for the first time, Morocco reaffirms its central role in the promotion of women's sport and sporting excellence in Africa.
