The victories? Perfect tie, 7 for the PGA Tour boss, 7 for the LPGA Tour queen.
Major titles? 1 each. Scottie Scheffler won a second green jacket in three years, Nelly Korda won a second Grand Slam success during the Chevron Championship.
So of course there are some small differences when we expand these “stats”. The top 10? There are 16 for the New Jersey native and “only” 10 for the Floridian. In Major, the boss of the PGA Tour still does a little better on the top 10 side (3 against 2).
There is also a little extra on the Scottie Scheffler side, it is of course the Olympic gold medal obtained in Paris, while Nelly Korda did not get on the podium.
A financial difference… abysmal
But the big and immense difference between the champion and the champion of the year, who played 19 tournaments for one and 16 for the other, is the winnings column. The difference is… abysmal.
Are you ready? With his performances and in particular his victory at the FedEx Cup, Scheffler has garnered a total of $29 million. Korda had to be content with $4.4 million. Or 6 times fewer greenbacks.
Perhaps aware of this colossal delay compared to the PGA Tour (and we're not talking about the crazy sums earned by LIV players), the LPGA Tour announced significantly increased prize pools for 2025. The very small sporting gap between the two bosses of world Golf cannot explain such a margin when it comes to talking about winnings in tournaments. There must be something else…
