Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: an amazing action comedy with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren as CIA agents!

This is an action comedy unlike any other that is coming to your living room this Wednesday night. Why not like the others? Because in Red, the four main characters, CIA agents, are… 65 years old on average! And they are not played by just anyone: Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich, no less!

Red (acronym for Retired Extremely Dangerous) sees four CIA agents who are not exactly happy about their retired status: Franck can’t stand inactivity, his colleague Joe vegetates in a specialized establishment, Marvin uses amphetamines and Victoria does odd jobs. It’s not easy to quit when you’ve been a CIA agent all your life! However, when their former employer decides to eliminate these slightly too compromising people for good, he will discover that despite their age, they are still formidable adversaries…

A big-screen adaptation of a comic strip illustrated by Cully Hamner and written by Warren Ellis, the feature film Red, with its irresistible pitch, is perfect entertainment. It’s funny, rhythmic, full of ideas, and the action scenes look great, like this mind-blowing moment when Bruce Willis, always so comfortable in very muscular sequences, gets out of a car while it’s spinning!

The director of the “Divergent” saga at the helm

But the great quality of Red is of course its luxurious quartet of Hollywood stars. Bruce, Morgan, Helen and John have a blast in front of Robert Schwentke’s camera (the director of the last two parts of the Divergent saga) for a frankly jubilant result!

Want to spend the evening with four seniors who are not yet “too old for this crap” (yes, you get the reference!)? Then the action comedy Red, a nice little public success in French theaters with more than 800,000 spectators in attendance, is the program for you!

Tonight on M6 at 9:10 p.m.
