DJI is taking advantage of the IFA currently taking place in Berlin to launch a new small drone called Neo, its lightest and most compact drone to date, weighing only 135 g. Fully controllable without a remote control, Neo takes off and lands in the palm of your hand. Small but strong, it benefits from intelligent subject tracking, QuickShots modes and offers ultra-stabilized 4K videos with a flight time of up to 18 minutes.

At the push of a button

Neo takes off with a simple press of the mode button and selecting the desired shooting mode. Its 1/2-inch sensor can produce 12 Mpx photos and 4K/30 fps videos. Equipped with a single-axis mechanical gimbal, DJI’s small drone will be able to master high-speed flights and complex maneuvers in disturbed wind conditions. It features RockSteady or HorizonBalancing stabilization technologies, allowing the drone to reduce image shaking and correct horizon tilt up to ± 45 ° 1, ensuring smooth and stable sequences and the preservation of details in shadows and highlights. The small Neo’s infrared and monocular vision positioning system allows for stable hovering. Neo also supports automatic return to home (RTH).

AI at the heart of Neo’s algorithms

Neo’s AI algorithms ensure precise subject tracking in the frame. Neo leverages DJI’s familiar QuickShots modes, which include six intelligent shooting modes that offer a range of different shooting angles:

  • Dronie: The drone flies backwards and performs an ascent, with the camera locked on the subject, and records video.
  • Circle: The drone circles around the subject.
  • Rocket: The drone performs an ascent with the camera pointed downward.
  • Spotlight: The drone rotates while keeping the object of interest in the frame.
  • Spiral: The drone ascends and spirals around the subject.
  • Boomerang: The drone flies around the subject in an oval trajectory, ascending away from its starting point and descending when it returns. The starting point of the aircraft forms one end of the long axis of the oval, while the other end is opposite the subject from the starting point.

Different types of piloting

Neo has been designed to be used without an additional remote controller. It can also be paired with the DJI Fly app, RC Motion, DJI Goggles and even voice-controlled for increased flight and camera control. A Wi-Fi connection with a smartphone allows the Neo to be piloted using virtual joysticks on the DJI Fly app interface with a control range of up to 50 m. Paired with the DJI RC-N3, the maximum video transmission distance is 10 km and offers the possibility of operating the camera in a traditional way using control joysticks on the remote controller.

Full belly

With 22GB of internal storage, Neo can record up to 40 minutes of 4K/30fps video or 55 minutes of 1080p/60fps video. Data transfer will be done via Wi-Fi connection in the DJI Fly app on the smartphone or connected to the computer via USB-C.

Available for purchase on the DJI Store (store.dji.com) and from authorized resellers, the DJI Neo is offered in the following configurations:

  • DJI Neo alone: €199
  • Bundle Fly More DJI Neo : 349 €
