Antoine de Maximy, famous globetrotter and host of the show “J’irai dormir chez vous”, has traveled the world in search of unusual encounters and makeshift accommodation with locals. But what happens when he returns from his travels? It is in a house in the Parisian suburbs, like his atypical character, that he finds a bit of peace. He opened the doors of his cocoon to Côté Maison magazine. A tour of the owner, between a decoration that stands out and an uninhibited approach to design.

“I’ll sleep at your place”: where does Antoine de Maximy live when he’s not on the road?

Antoine de Maximy is known for intruding into homes around the world with his series “I’ll sleep at your place”. But when he is not sleeping at strangers’ houses, “his home base is in the suburbs of Paris, in a charming pavilion surrounded by a garden, which he completely restored,” says Home Sidewho invited himself to his home by reversing the roles!

Antoine seems to have recreated a eextension of his universe of freedom and improvisationwhere conventions have no place! At his place, simplicity prevails: when he invites his friends, it is around a good plate of noodles, no fuss. He also organizes “candlelit parties”! The host also reveals that he prefers live in silencein contemplation, rather than with constant background music.

Antoine de Maximy: his “charming pavilion” renovated in the Parisian suburbs

His favorite color at home? The whitehe confides in the columns of the magazine. As for his favorite piece, he explains that it is from his bathroom with bathtubwhere he likes to spend time. THE kitchen? At Antoine de Maximy’s, it is “Grande (we eat there at fifteen) and completely open”, we can read at Home Side.

And when the magazine asks him his storage tiphe answers with humor: “Everything leave loose. My father used to say that when it’s tidy, it’s lost. It’s true in my house.” Antoine de Maximy is perfectly content with this “organized mess”, and claims that he has no desire to have extra room. A beautiful lesson in simplicity!

A “reclaimed” and unusual decor at Antoine de Maximy

On the decoration side, Antoine reveals that his furniture is entirely “Broc’, only salvage”, more or less. He admits to having nevertheless fallen for a “old fashioned light bulb that creates light effects for 9 euros at Casto“, disco style.

The adventurer also lives without TV, and without curtains : “The more we hide, the more likely we are to be hassled,” he adds. The same minimalist vision on the side of green plants : he is afraid of them, because “they are essentially problems,” he assures. He also frankly admits to Home Side that he “doesn’t like to arrange”, and is amused by an unexpected detail about him: “the lawnmower in the kitchen. “It’s his place,” he explains. Far from the standards of decoration magazines, Antoine de Maximy’s interior is ultimately in his image: free, bold and detached from conventions. This house also reflects its philosophy of life: travel light, live without frills and above all, always prioritize experience and people!
