Tonight on TV: in this somewhat forgotten comedy, Jacques Villeret is Christian Clavier’s comfort blanket – Cinema News

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: a delicious comedy starring two big names in French comedy.

How about a film that is an antidote to the gloom? Then watch the comedy L’Antidote! on C8 this Tuesday evening. The story of Jacques-Alain Marty, known as “Jam”, the boss of a large group. Everything is going well for him, but for a few weeks now, he has not been in his normal state, subject to anxiety attacks linked to a childhood trauma for which he must find the antidote. Jam will then realize that in the presence of André Morin, an accountant who owns shares in the group, he finds all his means and charisma…

Somewhat forgotten today, L’Antidote, a comedy with an unusual pitch carried by the two great names of laughter that are Christian Clavier and Jacques Villeret, is a real success, funny, well-written and full of enthusiasm. Following in the footsteps of the cinema of Gérard Oury and Francis Veber, with this tandem composed of two diametrically opposed characters (one sometimes thinks of Dîner de cons), this film will make you spend an excellent relaxing evening.

For producer Christian Fechner, who has produced Jacques Villeret on several occasions (La Soupe aux choux, Papy fait de la résistance, etc.), L’Antidote is a comedy with a real social issue in the background, in this case the relationship between big bosses and small employees. “The film addresses a rather serious subject, when you consider that the stock market, in recent years, has ruined thousands, even millions of small shareholders.”he says. “That’s why I needed actors of the caliber of Keyboard et Villeret : their range extends well beyond comedy.”

“There, it was necessary both that Keyboard (who will soon be giving the reply to Rayane Bensetti) takes on a whole new type of character – which he did magnificently – and has someone in front of him who can throw the ball back at him in terms of comedy while still conveying real emotion.”Fechner adds. “Clavier becomes more human through contact with Villeret, and Villeret discovers another world through contact with Clavier.”

“We witnessed some quite phenomenal exchanges which, sometimes, were not even written down”

Christian Clavier et Jacques Villeretvery complementary, form in L’Antidote a duo that works wonderfully. “It’s exactly the same kind of relationship that could exist between Dean Martin et Jerry Lewisbetween Louis de Funes et Bourvil…”notes director Vincent de Brus.

“We realize something extremely significant, which is that comedy is like tennis,” he adds. “When you find yourself in the final of a Grand Slam tournament with two big names facing each other, you find yourself in front of an incredible match and generally, you don’t get bored at all. Here, that’s exactly what happened: we witnessed some pretty phenomenal exchanges that, sometimes, weren’t even written.”

L’Antidote, one of Jacques Villeret’s posthumous films, is a truly good comedy that has been unjustly forgotten, so don’t hesitate for a second: spend the evening watching this entertainment that will put you in a very good mood for the rest of the week!

Tonight on C8 at 9:10 p.m.
