Two-time WWE champion Sid Eudy, known as “Sid Vicious,” has died, according to a statement from his family. He was 63.”I am deeply saddened to share that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after battling cancer for several years,” a Facebook post from Gunnar Eudy says. “He was a man of strength, kindness, and love, and his presence will be greatly missed. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss.”Eudy was “one of the most imposing and terrifying competitors of his generation with a natural charisma that immediately connected with the WWE Universe,” a news release from WWE said. “Standing at 6’9, Sid gained notoriety in 1989 when he signed with WCW and wrestled with and against some of the biggest names in the industry, including The Steiner Brothers, The Road Warriors and The Four Horseman.”According to WWE, Eudy made his debut as “Sid Justice” and served as a special guest referee at SummerSlam in 1991 during a match between Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior and The Triangle of Terror in a 3-on-2 match.”That very same night, Sid saved Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth from an attack at the evil hands of Jake Roberts and The Undertaker at the couple’s newlywed reception,” the WWE release says. Eudy returned to the WWE a few years later, wrestling under the name “Sycho Sid,” and teaming up with Shawn Michaels. But in 1996, Eudy won the WWE Championship against his ally at Survivor Series. He eventually lost the title back to Michaels, but won his second championship by defeating Bret Hart in 1997 on “Raw.” “Known as ‘The Master and Ruler of the World,’ Sid’s reputation as one of the toughest and most thrilling Superstars cemented his legacy in WWE, and his influence can still be seen in wrestling rings around the world,” the WWE said. Eudy’s last appearance on WWE was “Raw” in 2012, a special appearance ahead of the show’s 1,000th episode.
