The shock on this first day of school at the small Bergers nursery school, located 11 rue Perrin Solliers, a stone’s throw from the church of Notre Dame-du-Mont, in the 6th arrondissement of Marseille. A school teacher fell ill this Monday, September 2, shortly after 8 a.m., in front of her young students in the Grande Section, the rectorate told France 3 Provence-Alpes.
The 57-year-old teacher collapsed in her classroom while the parents were still present, the rectorate also indicated.
A psychological unit has been set up and will remain all week in the public establishment in the Cours Julien district, which accommodates around 200 students. The academic director also immediately went to the scene, the rectorate added.
The victim died on the spot, confirmed the marine firefighter battalion that intervened. The cause of death is not officially known at this time.
