Rapper Zola has been placed under judicial supervision, notably for driving while under the influence of narcotics, the Evry prosecutor’s office told AFP on Saturday, August 31. A possible refusal to comply was ultimately not considered, it said.

“The person concerned was brought before [vendredi] at the Evry judicial court”according to the public prosecutor, who added that the charges were “driving a vehicle while using narcotics, as a repeat offence”, “transporting a category D weapon, in this case an airsoft pistol and ammunition, as a repeat offence” and “possession of narcotics, in this case cannabis, as a repeat offence”. “The refusal to comply was not held against him, the elements in the procedure not allowing him to be formally charged”the prosecution said.

The 24-year-old rapper, listened to by more than three million monthly listeners on the Spotify platform, was arrested at his home on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, when his vehicle was spotted by a gendarmerie crew in Bondoufle (Essonne), driving with its lights off at more than 200 km/h, according to the department’s gendarmerie group. The rapper’s hearing before the Evry criminal court will take place on February 13, 2025, the prosecutor’s office reported.
