And apartment located above the Le New-Yorkais nightclub in Angers, in the city center, was ravaged by firereport our colleagues from Courrier de l’Ouest. Two people were injured and around a hundred people had to be evacuated.
The fire started from an apartment located on the second floor of a residence located at 5, rue Maillé in Angers, around 3 a.m. The flames spread to the roof of the building.
44 firefighters mobilized
The firefighters of emergency centers of Angers center, Chêne-Vert and the Academy with the help of their colleagues from Saumur mobilized four water lances, two of which were mounted on ladders. In total, 44 firefighters battled the flames.
“The floor of the second floor collapsed onto that of the first while a water pipe leak largely flooded the ground floor,” our colleagues report.
The building will have to undergo renovation work and the nightclub will be forced to furlough its staff.
