Alerted around 3 a.m., firefighters from the center, Chêne-Vert and Académie emergency centers went to Angers, rue Maillé in the city center, to try to control a devastating fire an apartment. The damaged residence, which also houses a nightclub, Le New-Yorkais, is at risk of collapse. The accommodation is located on the 2nd floor of the building. When help arrived, the fire was already starting to spread to the roofs.

The structure of the building is weakened

Ouest- indicates that the two people who were in the 2nd floor accommodation were injured, intoxicated by smoke and transported to hospital. Around a hundred other people were evacuated. On site, the firefighters are assisted by their colleagues from who specialize in interventions in dangerous environments. In total, 44 firefighters and 13 engines were deployed. Although the flames have been brought under control, what remains of the building constitutes a danger because the structure is very weakened and the floor of the 2nd floor has collapsed onto that of the first. Furthermore, a water leak flooded the ground floor. However, the fall of a chimney was avoided. The intervention should last a good part of the day, relays Ouest-France. At this time, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
