Between 150 and 200 staff members from the Louis-de-Foix high school in mobilized this morning of October 12. Gathered in front of the gates of the establishment at 10 a.m., they then reached the square of the town hall via the historic center. In open conflict with the principal who has been in place for five years, to whom they criticize her management methods, they regret a situation which is getting bogged down.

“Nothing changes. Certainly, last night, the rector launched an investigation but we have the diagnoses. We know that there is suffering everywhere, in all services and now, what scares us the most is the rising tension. The situation is completely blocked and we really fear that something explosive is going to happen. There should not be a tragedy,” says a teacher, member of the inter-union, who prefers to remain anonymous due to the “climate of fear” which reigns within the high school.

Complaint filed

The case took a legal turn on Friday October 11. According to our colleagues from Bleu Pays Basque, the assistant principal filed a complaint at the Bayonne police station for “capturing images” against a teacher who was filming an altercation. Furthermore, the head of the establishment is currently on sick leave.

On May 2, a commission specializing in suffering at work came to Louis-de-Foix. She still has not delivered her conclusions.
