Identify Me

The Identify Me campaign is a call to the public to identify women whose bodies have been found in six European countries, many of whom may have been victims of murder.

These are most often unresolved cases concerning women who died 10, 20, 30 or even 40 years ago. Their bodies were discovered in Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy and the Netherlands.

Although extensive police investigations were carried out, the women were never identified and there is evidence to suggest that some of them may have come from other countries. It is unknown who they are, where they came from and why they were in these countries.

INTERPOL issued a black notice for each victim. Although these alerts are reserved for the police, INTERPOL has made extracts of these notices public. We have released some details about each case, including facial reconstruction images, in the hope that someone may recognize them and help determine the circumstances of their deaths.

A rediscovered identity

Rita Roberts, a Briton, was identified 31 years after her assassination in Belgium thanks to this campaign in 2023. A member of her family recognized her tattoo from media coverage.
